Instead of Mean Fiddler paying the "boring, shit, towny, jizz stain" PRODIGY...£1,000,000 to play firestarter and other gay songs like that for about 1 hour...how about using that money (our money), to pay for classic bands to play such as:

* Saxon
* Def Leppard
* Judas Priest
* maybe even mr ozzy osborne
* pink floyd.....who wouldn't buzz off watching pink floyd at the end off a heavy day's rocking!!!
* or how about killswitch engage...they are pretty new but they rock!!

Yes. You are correct the Prodigy are irrelevant and Mean fiddler dont have a clue. But also let me draw attention to the fact that the prodigy have been missing from the music scene for a number of years now and their new album could be an absolute flop they deserve not to headline. Also how did muse make it on there? Their overblown, grandiose rock theatrics should have died when punk cleared out all that other shit in 1977 for fuck sake. They take themselves far too seriously and their brand of prog rock is altogether too knowing for my liking they know exactly what they are doing and why and despite being great musicians with a few catchy tunes in principle i hate what they do and it makes me feel ill. Lets just hope that having NOFX on the same bill will redeem the whole sorry mess.

when i saw that NOFX were on the line up i nearly created a "whole sorry mess" in my pants. The line up quite frankly needs no redeeming. goldfinger, reel big fish, fenix*tx, new found glory, capdown, the icarus line, rival schools, jimmy eat world, A, bouncing souls, sick of it all, alkaline trio, less than jake, the hives and the offspring should all suit someone with a taste for NOFX (possibly). Im also gona check out Alec Empire and aphex twin oh yeah and weezer theyre good too. Infact there isnt much that could be added to the line up to make it better other than adding 'dead' bands like sublime and nirvana or bands from last year like mad caddies and rancid. The line up is very punk this year and i like taht. Finally the UK is getting compensation for no warped tour. 70s hair metal wouldnt really fit in with the line up that well. Although i would pay 96.75 to see w.a.s.p. alone tho w.a.s.p. are a very special exception :-) The guy that posted the original message reminds me of the guys at the beginning of that american hi-fi video.

I like NOFX but i unfortunately hate the icarus line and fin New found glory simply irritating. I am adverse to goldfinger and less than jake. Capdown and lightyear are great bands as well as alkaline trio. How about some good punk like Ataris, Anti flag, mad caddies, Rancid, MXPX, Green Day you get the picture. Just because punk is announced doesnt mean that it fits the bill.

musically, there is none.
the only diffence that makes you like one above another is their image. all of those bands are so similar as to make the difference invisible. this years bill is great - the "real punk" you speak of is an illusion. please try to be less elitist and close minded.

musical differences do exist between
the bands. The reason all the bands i
mentioned are in the same genre is because
they are similar not homogenous. Punk
bands vary one hell of alot in vocals,
inspiration for songs and song structure
and to say that new found glory are similar
to rancid could be deemed by some to be
highly offensive. Jimmy eat world and
the icarus line are also quite massively
differrent. Either way i prefer punk as a
genre on the whole to hair metal (with the
exception of w.a.s.p. obviously :-)and that
was my point in making my original post.
Like i said the line up couldnt really be
made better in punk terms without adding bands
from lastyear like that guy said; mad caddies,
rancid and green day.

The line up this year is good and personally
i dunno how someone other than a lover of
classical music could go there and not find a
few bands to their liking.

the bill this year really isn't punk. if you want punk go to holidays in the sun. the parkinsons will be cool. capdown are obviously amazing. i'm more bothered about thursday, dashboard confessional and bouncing souls this year. bouncing souls being the only that resembles "punk" but there are some other good genre bands on.

The bill this year is blatantly punk dominated
wether or not you like bands like less than
jake or goldfinger doesnt change the fact that
they are punk. They may be ska punk but still
punk and still better than having nu metal (in my
opinion). Theres no other category that all those
bands i mentioned fit into (and dont even think
of saying "crap" or something stupid like that.)
Comparing Ataris to lightyear and saying that they
are the same is quite frankly insane and on this
matter i agree wholeheartedly. Maybe we should pass
it off as a bit of a "special" moment for whatever
that geezers name was and close this monstrous punk
or not punk argument that i inadvertantly created
