Weren't Oasis awesome at T in the Park from the sound of the live set on the radio? Makes me wish I was going to see them - and it's many years since I said that...Book 'em for reading, I say. Leeds are getting Guns n Roses as their unique act, while we're fobbed off with Raging Speedhorn! Give us Oasis! Now!

You gotta give it to the boys though

How many other bands can keep such a big fanbase while releasing Don't Look Back in anger, slide away or Wonderwall over and over again.

Would love to see them live, but I've no respect for their albums after the first two.

Well...

July 16 2002, 3:15 PM

...I liked the first album, then went off them. And they seemed to go through the motions at Reading in 2000. Heathen Chemistry gets better with every play. plus I got hold of a couple of cracking bootlegs from the mid-90s last week and they were a superb live band then. Of course, that WAS before all the bust-ups stupid marriages and cocaine. Went a bit wrong there, but they're back on some sort of form, I reckon. Still, it could all go pear-shaped again...

...I like almost all of it. Hung in a Bad Place, Little By Little and Born on a Different Cloud - all in a similar, rocky, vein to Hindu Times. Even Liam's songs are pretty good.

"Great live band" shouldn't come down to sound alone. COz they do nothing else. May as well watch on a video.

Is a football player who runs fast "a great football player". Where's the spontaneity? The passion? The Unpredictablilty?

speedhorn...

I`d rather have raging speedhorn at Reading than those Oasis twats anyday. Liam G sucks John Lennon`s cock too much.

And by the way......

If you want a Reading only band to match the status of Guns and Roses (or the Axl Rose Show), you sure as hell dont go for Oasis. How about some Iron Maiden or Priest? Wouldn`t mind seeing Tool there either....but now I`m dreaming....MeanFiddler would never be that cool.

Gotta agree

Raging Speedhorn are the best British live band i've ever seen. I understand they arent many people's cups of tea, but everyone i've seen them with has been blown away by them, and they've not all been into that type of music. It may be different on such a big stage, but i would rather see Speedhorn play a 3minute set than Oasis play all night. Least Speedhorn dont run around going on about how hardcore they are all the time. And I bet they could beat Oasis in a fight!!!!!!

But...

July 16 2002, 8:19 PM

...do Speedhorn play that song from the (I think) Reebok advert? Y'know "Belly's Gonna Get You." If so, then, respect - songs about fat people always get my vote.

haha. well. that was pretty funny. but still, theyve got a lump of a drummer who looks like a pyro, and well basically, i like my music to have
A)melody, B)audible lyrics, C)everything that speedhorn's music doesnt have.
anyway, i wont be going to see them so it doesnt really matter

Hmmmm

July 18 2002, 12:26 PM

You call me moronic then you say Speedhorn dont have melody. if you had actually bothered your ass to listen to the music you would know RSH have an absolute shitload of melody which is what makes them so interesting. If you took the vocals out you would realise just how tuneful they are, in a similar vein to Vision of Disorder, another fucking ace band. As for Belly's gonna get ya, Gaz, their guitarist, said that wasnt actually them and it was jus a dodgy rumour, but who knows, maybe he was ashamed. Anyhow, i agree, the vocals are brash and inaudible at points, but they are incredibly melodic. Anyhow, as you said, you wont be watching them so it really aint worth arguing about.
