i only saw people under the stairs, and i agree the sound quality wasnt great, i dont think the mics were loud enough. On a plus note HOW COOL was it when they started playing super mario on stage and used the drum machine and scratched in time with the game???! One of the coolest things i saw the whole weekend...

Radio 1 Tent

Yeah the Radio 1 tent sound quality was awful, every band I saw in there had really bad sound problems at some point. Even bands that I have seen before and I know are great live were ruined by bad sound. Even the Carling Stage had better sound. Sort it out Mean Fiddler.

Stage sound

The Evening sesh. stage sound was appauling, especially the vocals. It was a real shame because there were alot of good bands playing there. The Carling stage sound was awesome. Dance tent sound was incredible (for aphex twin and unkle anyways), and I was impressed by the quality of the main stage too. So all good apart from the bastard evening sesh, they seemed to have carling loudness in a tent about 3 times bigger. Tsk/pshhh.

I couldn't belive the state of the Radio1 stage....i was camped behind it and had heard NFG and Feeder, and they sounded great from that view. Then i went in to see Capdown, my fave live band, and couldn't belive it! Couldn't hear the Sax or the Vocals. How do they manage to get all the other stages right, but not the main tent?!
Carling sound was supburb (only in there for ThisGIRL though) as was the Dance (AphexTwin...missed UNKLE dammit!).

Well the fact that the streets does shit music ruined there set...

As for the R1 tent, i agree, i thought the actual quality was ok but it was too quiet, especially for Jimmy Eat World who's vocals were nearly drowned out by the crowd from where i was, still a bloody good performance however
