weezer set

Heard the Reading WEezer set on Radio 1 last night. Really reminded me at just how goo Weezer were/still are. Say it aint so still has the magic - sends shivers up ma spine.

Also, I saw dillinger Escape plan w/Icarus Line at the mean fiddler on friday. Now that was a gig. Even included a few random semi-celeb appearances. Head nodding beside me in the pit was Hundred reasons (inc. hairy colin), Zane Lowe of XFM and Marc Lamar. REally was quite odd. The fact that they werent surrounded by mobs of annoying fans suggested to me that there were a few thinkers in the crowd, I think these guys sometimes appreciate being left alone to enjoy the show. AND WHAT A SHOW IT WAS! Good to see fans here because of the talent on display, not just following the instantaneous "crazy and rebellious" reputation of DEP from their REading extravaganzazaza.
As per usual, their set was immaculate, and was made to look completely effortless, but anyone who appreciates their music will know it takes years of effort to reach that standard of complexity and intensity. How these guys even begin to write songs leaves me in a state of complete amazement.

A solid 9/10 for the gig. Losing a mark due to the oversized "perfumed" bloke at the front blocking everyones view, the fact that Disturbed were playing upstairs and their idiot (not all idiots) fans starting fights on me and my mate because were were not wearing "grunger" clothes, and the fact that the singer looked me in the eyes and spat right between them. (got my own back later).
I feel the future of extreme music lies in the hands of bands like Dillinger, and I thouroughly believe that a if a bit of effort is put in to listening to it, the rewards from this music are immense. However, I also believe that metal will be drawn back away from the mainstream, and taken back into the "underground". Cant wait to see it all unfold.

What were u actually wearing to constitute such a reaction from disturbed fans? P.S I went to watch disturbed the other day and they sucked balls. all the guy talked about was 'the power of the human spirit', and it spoilt the concert

Clothing..

I was wearing a while T-shirt, black trousers and adidas shoes, my mate was wearing a blue jacket, jeans and nike shoes. Nothing to special. Think the Disturbed idiots must have thought we were pikeys or something. Guess hardcore fans must dress differently to nu-metal fans?!

Clothing Rage

It cracks me up when people do that.. they are so "Omg clothes?" as if they have any clue what you are like on that basis. I remember after a Fear Factory gig in Belfast, I was wearing a pair of jeans "smartish" shoes and a black DKNY shirt so i looked "OMG LAD" These two Fear Factory fans started giving it the old "Spidey Fuck" (Spide in Belfast = townie/lad) and accusing me of being fake.. I laughed heartily because little did they know I met the band before the gig or probably that I was even at the gig and just to make matters worse for them Dino Cazares appeared outside and said "Hey Aaron"

Fear Factory Concert Ticket: £17
Demanufacture CD to get signed: £14
The look on those to fake metalheads faces when their idol spoke to me and not them: Priceless

Oh...

September 13 2002, 2:04 PM

...um, why would any clothing be "oh my god" clothing? I mean, Kylie in something rubbery might well make me say "Oh my god!" but that's about it.

he's just trying to make the point that people assume far too much from the clothes you wear. because he wasn't wearing the correct clothing in these lads eyes to be at a fear factory gig they decided to give him hassle...to them baggie pants= people into metal, any other clothing=townie....it's sad but true....

youve hit the nail on the head there. I mean, I fucking hate pikeys (townies)like most semi-educated people in the country, and Id never EVER try and seriously immitate one. And why would I be at a Dillinger show/he be at a fear Factory show if were were townies. Grrrrr. ah well, life goes on.
