Well...

December 20 2002, 8:55 AM

...Bowling For Soup I probably wouldn't get up to see (though I like that one about the girl all the bad guys want - some very funny lines in it), and Metallica will be headlining, so there's a good chance I'll be very tired/drunk by then, though I'd try to stagger along to see them - they were particularly good at Milton Keynes in 99. No offer of free beer is ever refused round these parts, Mar!

Yeah But...

In '99 Metallica had Jason on bass.. they won't next year *sigh*

Is Bob Rock playing bass for them still? If so the fact they were my favourite band in my early - mid teens will count for nothing and I won't bother going to see them even though they are possibly the only band in the world who I would like to see and haven't already.

Lars Ulrich sucks, Bob Rock sucks.. They will make the set list so gay it will hurt as anything with even remotely challenging bass or drum parts will be removed from the set, bang goes the first four albums right there :(

Typical...

December 20 2002, 11:43 AM

It's hardly the same band now though is it?

Bob Rock is a record producer not a bass player.. Lars Ulrich states that "Oasis" is his biggest influence these days. Furthermore and I quote..

"Dyer's Eve and pretty much anything else of 'Justice' will never feature in the set as long as I am writing the setlist, we'll try and do some of the old stuff though we know there's guys who still want that"

So because I would rather have had the chance to see the 'proper' (without Cliff though obviously) Metallica line up that makes me a mardy git does it?

i bet your glass is always half empty too huh?!?! if you chilled out a little and stopped pre-empting the set you might actually enjoy the gig!! but you probably prefer to sit there and have a good whinge instead...

...posts on the LPU? Maybe you're not, and most probably you're not, but you never know - it's a small world! Forgive me if you're really offended by this question. I had to ask!

On the contrary..

December 20 2002, 5:35 PM

I KNOW I would enjoy the set, I know I WILL enjoy the set I also know I am a bigger Metallica fan than you will ever be so I'm not having a go at Metallica I'm having a go at Lars and Bob Rock although they are gradually becoming the only memebers of the Metallica team with any kind of input into the thing..

What annoys me is that Mr Ulrich and Bob Rock are almost directly responsible for the latest offerings from the band, including that bloody Ja Rule thing which have been decidedly below par for Metallica. And Lars' refusal to play anything on the drums that would require "effort" on his part.. he calls the set list you know.. and he's a fag.

It's not nice to see your favourite band go that way you know, nor is it nice to see "Bob 'fucking' Rock" be given even MORE control by actually initiating him into the band even if it is only temporary, Lars' and Bob's vision is a gay one and a VERY bad gay one at that. I would spend 6 fucking days in a wet field, with ICE and SHARKS and BEES with the strokes playing a 14 hour long ad-lib set if I thought I would get to see Metallica afterwards..

Oh wait, that's right.. I forgot we all live in a Communist dictatorship where no one is allowed to express their own opinions for fear of repercussions from angry bob here..

Hardly..

No, I actually took my computer apart with a view to re-building it in an antec performance case with a window kit and blue cold cathode light.. It's coming on well.. I could show you pictures if you like?

With regards to the "bigger metallica fan" i thought i'd bring myself down on a par with yourself and your attitudes.. What i meant is that, I have been in a Metallica cover band and can play every song on every album on bass, guitar and most of it on drums.. i know everything pretty much there is to know about the history of the band etc etc and yes, i know its sad, and yeah i know there's others that do but whenever people like you go from saying "Load was a SHIT album" to "omg I disappear.. cool.." i have to talk to you on your own terms.

don't even get started with the whole "broadminded" shit with me, have you ever heard of Darkthrone, Null, Burzum, Sun, Riffmaster General, Orange Goblin, Hangnail, Cathedral, Spiritual Beggars, Pain.. the list goes on and on..

Homophobic? no. i wouldn't say so, but keep what you like doing to yourself, i'd rather not watch too blokes or women really for that matter "expressing love for each other" right in front of me nor would i particularly want to watch a "straight" couple going at it..

im actually quite disappointed at myself for considering this message "emotive" enough to respond to but you can smell the insecurity on your part and the fact that you feel it's now "cool" to defend metallica makes me angry.. scoring points in arguments on a forum is gay unless your one of these Linux geeks or something in which case it becomes life..

You were bullied at school weren't you? probably spotty, overweight, didn't get your first girlfriend until you were 17 or something like that? it come across like that in the way you write at least.. concentrate on improving the problems you have going on in your life, sort things like that out first rather than trying to make others suffer because your life wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

furthermore, i don't want a response from you, anymore response to this string will be seen as you being wrong enjoy yourself..
