I reckon Pearl Jam have got to be a good shout for this years hedliners. They're big enough and theoy've got a new album out. They also haven't played a big UK festival for quite a while. Don't know whether they'd be a great balance with Metallica and (most probably) a new look Blur for the first night on show but I could certainly see it happening.

Also White Stripes,Idlewild,Datsuns,Audioslave,Zwan(?),Deftones,Beck,Evan Dando and Lemonjelly should be a good bet.

i would love pearl jam to play reading but after the horrific accident and trauma they went thru after the roskilde festival a couple of years ago i'd say it's unlikely they'll play festivals again... they're also touring the u.s for the first half of 2003 so may be resting up thru august before the european tour... guess we'll have to wait and see :o)
