ok im the dumb one here coz i promised a mate id go for the weekend and and not just for deconstruction so yes ive got a weekend ticket but im still going to whinge. Why do people insist on pretending Donnington is the legendary home of rock, couldnt we not just accept thats its like virtual reality Kerrang Tv without the off button these days? how 'A'are so 'big' is beyond me, and yes ive seen them 4 times if im gonna be picky and each time ive seen them theyve been shit and blown off the stage by what ever band preceeded them, for whatever reason Deconstruction's been roped into appearing at the festival and if NOFX and Strung Out are on the same bill at a uk festival theres not much chance of me missing it, but apart from the Deftones this has got to be THE shitest festival line up ever!
Sounds to me like you don't deserve to have a ticket! Why the hell are you going if you insist on bitching about the line up.
This is a show for metal fans, all the people that are complaining seem to be punk heads. So your shitty little Deconstruction got eaten by a more powerful company, Boo frickin' Hoo!
I'm sick of people having a go at Download. Iron Maiden, yes, IRON FUCKING MAIDEN haedlining, if you don't know the importance of that you shouldn't even be going! Manson, Ministry, Audioslave, Disturbed, Shadows Fall. Nothing wrong with that lot, unless you're a punk head of course. Geez!!
I'm a bit punk fan and I love metal too, I would have thought people who are into metal would like punk and vice versa... maybe it's just me. I wouldn't mind going to Download as I live in Derby and it's only round the corner, but dunno if I can afford it as well as Reading. :-(
BULL-SHIT (in the words of the great Jaymz)!!!!!! I don't buy Kerrang any more (actually, I only bought the recent one cuz of the Metallica stuff).
It's not fair that you7 associate some of the bands with Kerrang: Ministry = NOT a Kerrang band, Manson = been around a hell of a lot longer than Kerrang!, Maiden = Definately not because Kerrang always knock older bands.
Just cuz you don't like Kerrang, doesn't mean you have to hate the gig, after all, Kerrang has nothing to do with the Main Stage and the only good thing with their stage is Shadows Fall!
is a k! branded event. and kerrang have featured all of those bands you listed and so what about how long a band have been around they still feature in kerrang. k! needs bands like ministry and maiden to give it the air of "alternative" rather than nu-metal. if the magazine didnt feature some death metal or industrial or someone the baggy trouser wearers wont have been alive to know about then it would loose its small adult following and its "respect". same with the festival
Its a predominently metal and punk orientated festival. Kerrang is a fucking metal and punk magazine, so the bands are BOUND to have been featured! Bands like BoySetsFire, Shadows Fall, Deftones, Raging Speedhorn, Audioslave, Taking Back Sunday, Stampin' Ground, etc are all fucking good and pretty successful and as they fall under sub genres of metal and punk they have been featured in Kerrang. That doesnt make it a festival for Kerrang readers any more than it makes it a festival for Metal Hammer Readers or Rock Sound Readers! Every festival could be descibed like that (most years at Reading have their NME days) as alternative music journalism will always cover alternative bands! I admit having to put up with shit like Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne and A isn't the best, but they have to sell tickets as well. I myself am really impressed with the new batch of bands added and struggle to see how anyone who's been into metal over the last few years cant find quite a few bands to interest them.
Some of you don't know how lucky you are, you get to go and still bitch about it, on the other hand its the weekend of my 21st Birthday and i desparately wanna go, but i have a 3hr exam the morning of the 2nd June, so miss out on seeing some of my fave bands.
You have a real big problem with Kerrang dude. Let me say again, KERRANG HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH PICKING THE BANDS FOR MAIN STAGE!!! It's done by Clear Channel. So basically it sounds like you think that all the bands featured in Kerrang are shit!
Let me guess, you're into underground stuff, the less exposure a band gets, the better because heaven forbid that a band should be successful at what they do!
If you're against this, you should also be against Mean Fiddler and any other music mags other than Kerrang cuz they all promote bands.

..but i can't. i dont want to piss anyone off really. i buy kerrang every week. yet i hate nu metal. ministry get covered by kerrang sometimes (although personally i would prefer to see them in a bit more). iron maiden get cover stories in the magazine a few times every year.
by the way, marilyn manson was not famous before kerrang came out. the first issue of kerrang came out in 1982 and had AC/DC on the cover.
the only reason i am not going to download is because i can't afford it. i would like to see lots of the bands on the bill including older bands (maiden, ministry) and newer bands (the darkness, murderdolls, audioslave, zwan.)
Proud sponsors of the recent series of Pro-War rallies in the US. Pretty much blackmailing bands into appearing. Hate to think what'll happen to a band on that stage if they show any sort of political views...
There's nothing wrong with the line-up if you like that stuff.
I'm a punk fan but i'd go for Iron Maiden alone. Sadly i can't afford it.
The whole Deconstruction thing is a big load of wank though. I dont see how it's been justified. It was £20 last year. Now £40 cos you're "lucky enough" to pay to see Limp Bizkit play too (when all the punks care about is NOFX or Rancid).
It's crap for punks because there's nothing left for us. Now Deco's been swallowed up and HITS is doing its last run this year there's no real sort of festival in the uk for punk.
