Sorry it took so long, and once again, apologies to those I offend(except Datsuns fans).

Blur- An on/off Blur fan since 'Leisure', I think Graham taking a break could revitalize them. Still never gonna be a great live act, unless they play a greatest hits set. Blur are a singles band, proved by their Greatest Hits, and all the pissing around on album tracks post-Parklife. As for actually watching them, hmmmmm....Might do.

AFI- Does anyone know why this band are headlining the second stage this year? I've heard one song by them, and, good as it is, one hit does not equal Headliners.
If I hear more and like it, I might watch them. Usually on Sunday I'm asleep by 11.00 anyway, coz I tend to have no sleep for the rest of the festival. In the past, this has led to me missing Foo Fighters, Manic street Preachers, Mansun and the Chili Peppers.
This year, there's no one I'm that arsed about. If I have any energy left, might go watch.....

Pennywise- Just for 'fuck authority', although they do seem to have one song, which they play fast and loud over and over again for an hour.

White Stripes- Anyone here last year will know how much I slagged them. Having heard Elephant, there is actually some good stuff on there, but I don't buy into this 'we record for £50' crap, or having no bass player. The majority of their stuff still sucks, and it's not the blues either. Will not be watching White Stripes.

Beck- Thank the lord for Beck. Everyone else is gonna want 'Where its at' and 'Loser'. You just know you're gonna get a load of stuff off 'Sea Change' instead. I personally don't mind what he plays, it's all good. 'Nobody's fault but my own' and 'High Five' would be a good start though. Also, worst possible clash of the weekend, with the Coopers.BASTARRDS!!!

Doves- So, I'm gonna get either Beck or Doves clashing with the Coopers. Pity really, coz I love both. Brilliant in the sun in 2000, and with 2 sublime albums under their belt, I'll try my best to watch them again this year. However, coosing between them and the Coopers could be tricky.

The Streets- Unless you've heard the album or lived the life, you ain't gonna get(or like) Mike Skinner.
Having done both myself, I'm gonna look forward to doing daft dancing and getting well lairy at sunset on Sunday, an ideal time for The Streets to work their scally magic.

The Libertines- A proper, real rock and roll band, with their own timeless sound and superb songs about wasters and groupies. My arse could make an appearance atop the crowd at one point in their set. I like the Libertines.

Junior Senior- After reports that their album sounds like the Happy Mondays, I am slightly more interested, but the bastards on commercial radio and digital music stations mean they're never gonna escape 'Move yer feet'. So let's just say I really don't care about Junior Senior.

The Darkness- If you go a few pages back on the forum, you will see a post titled 'Fired out of a Cannon into the crowd. It's things like this, and songs like 'Get your hands off my woman' and 'I believe in a thing called love', that make the Darkness vital. Even if you hate the music, you can guarantee that they will be the funniest band on the bill, with their leotards and spandex.

Cave In- Put them on wrong day(fri). Are ace, ace, ace. Will have to be up early on Sunday.

Hundred Reasons- Bloody good rock band. Say no more. not a bad word to say about em really, even the singer's hair is cool.

The Cooper Temple Clause- Album of the year last year for the amazing 'See this through and Leave'. Set of the year at Leeds last year, in parts noisy as fuck and reflective in others, with some crowdsurfing heroics to Panzer attack. Wouldn't miss for the world. Would reccomend the album to my closest friends and worst enemies, as I think it would scare the enemies into never speaking to me again!!

Mars Volta- May have pulled out, due to a death in their crew. I've still not heard these, and would like to as ATDI were superb. I'll download some tracks later.

The Thrills- File Under Unoriginal. Not that that's always a bad thing. Seems everyone is trying to re-create late 80's/early 90's indie at present. BRMC doing Mary Chain, Hot hot heat the Cure, The Music doing Ride, The Stone Roses AND the Happy Mondays and these guys blatantly ripping off Teenage Fanclub, who in turn were ripping off Big Star. But TFC had songs, whereas the Thrills just have sparkle and jangle. Not enough.

The Kills- And these are ripping off Royal Trux. But they have songs, style and scuzziness. All good in my book, and what a band to rip off!!

The Rapture- More of this new fangled punk-funk stuff, gaining popularity no doubt in light of the recent death of the original punkfunker, the great Joe Strummer. Only heard 'House of Jealous Lovers', but I get where they're coming from and I like.

Jet- Named after the worst Paul McCartney song ever, and as bad as you'd expect. Cock Rock at its worst, dull, boring and dressed in Denim. Noel Gallagher likes them, which explains a lot.

My Morning Jacket- Can't think of any comparisons for these, but have seen and heard and they look and sound like disease-ridden, backwards deep-south fuckwit yokels. Best avoided.

Stellastar* and the Futureheads- Not heard either of these yet. Sorry, but I don't listen to the radio that much at night(apart from after midnight).Too busy making music or scouring net.

Concrete Jungle(acts I'm Vaguely interested in)- Madd Caddies, Alkaline Trio, King Prawn.

The other bands mentioned for this stage on E festivals will end up on the carling stage, I imagine.
let's hope they include Anti-Flag.
Thanks for reading, love you all, even if you hate me.
Have a safe, happy and excessive festival.

Was the cannon actually on stage?

June 2 2003, 8:38 PM

Here's hoping this happens at R and L. Do you think the singer cut his own balls off to hit them notes, or did someone do it for him??

Nowhere to be seen

The cannon wasn't there. I think it had a lot to do with the downsizing from 3 stages to 2, so they had to squeeze extra bands on both stages, hence less time

AFI

AFI only signed to a major label last year, which is probably why you've only heard one song, but they actually have 5 albums and 2 EPs previous to that on Nitro Records (Dexter Holland of the Offspring's label - the only good thing that band ever did was discover AFI).

If you wanna hear more of them, download some stuff from Black Sails in the Sunset and All Hallows EP, thats probably their better stuff.
