Am looking at a Bravenet forum, which seems to allow anyone to post without registration, and has threaded AND board styles built-in.

BUT, I don't know about the pop-up situation. Here's the URL of the test forum:

http://pub2.bravenet.com/forum/137405393

Can anyone check out any Bravenet forums they're aware of and let me know if they're riddled with pop-ups?

I'd just like to be able to....

Post in old threads without having to go scroll down below the end of the first page. The same subjects are brought up time and time again, and it's easier to just reply to the top few threads and just repeat it all over again, when I'd like to be able to just go to new posts immediately even if they're about old subjects.

A forum style board will allow us to see new posts in all threads going back for a long period of time. It'll be tidier, look better and a real feeling of community can be had.

We could post pics, make it more personal and cosy. LOL

I'd like to get to know you guys better and let's be honest it ain't happening while the boards are like this...

but meh....what do I know eh? :-P I can see why this current type of boards suits this kind of site, and if everyone else is happy then ....

you really are a mother eh Mar!
tidy up your room Reg, put down some throws and cushions, what colour curtains should we get
only pulling your leg.

this board is good. far easier for you to change browser or get some pop up control than it is for Reg to create a new board and the subsequent links etc.

Now, be a dear and get the tea on, there's a good girl =8-p

yea thats the annoying bit about this that perfectly good intresting threads get neglected because youve got to scroll down to see them

plus i really wouldnt mind registering....gives the place more of a sense of community;)

It's just those pop-ups... though Mar seems more irked by them than anyone... Google toolbar, Mar! You know it makes sense.

Well...

April 16 2004, 9:41 AM

...I MAY have found a suitable replacement, but the company that hosts are upgrading hardware at the moment. When they've done that, I'll register and test it out. Creating it is simple, but it's the functionality that I'm looking for. Well, got to keep Mar happy, haven't we. Plus, I would like to see threads with the most recent posts rise to the top. And the ability to create "sticky" threads that stay at the top - especially when looking for opinions on things. Watch this space! See, Mar, now you'll HAVE to keep coming back!
