Starter rebuild ...

Thought some of you might find this interesting. When I disassembled the starter on the 60 T-Bird the insulation on the field windings disintigrated so I did some home repair. Used some 1/2" material from the sewing dept. in Wallmart for the wrap and 500 deg. clear eng. paint for the sealer on one winding and then decided to try two part epoxy glue on the other two. The epoxy looks better but I think either one will work o.k.. Also replaced the main stud as it was stripped, new brushes, bushings, and thrust washers. Works like a champ so far. Probably more work than it was worth, but just decided to see if it could be done. Mike
