Cool, I`ve never been to the "other side" of Mission Raceway before, I didn`t even know that the road course used the right side of the track.
As for driving instructors, in the early 80`s when the old Westwood road course was stil open, I took my 70 R code 428CJ 4 speed Mach 1 to a open track type event, although the 428 ate all the 4 banger cars alive on the straight stretches, it was pretty dismal watching a Datsun 510 zinging past on the "twisty bits". I let an instructor drive the Mustang for a few laps, with me riding shotgun. He made that nose heavy Mach 1 do things that I never thought possible around the corners, the 510`s were still faster thru the hairpins, but not in the Esses. My Mustang never went on a road course again, but it was impressive what an experianced driver could do with that car. The instructor was also the track care taker/security guard, and owned a full tube chassis 63 Fairlane with a setback 429 CJ, I was told that his Fairlane was a real monster around the track, and had made numerous "after hours" solo test laps.
