Thanks for the comments from everyone. Rod journals look decent, visually. Short-block still assembled. Couldn't dig deeper wothout tearing it down, and he didn't want to disassemble it. Cylinder bores look clean; no really visable marks/scoring. Rods looked really clean when we sprayed them with WD-40 and wiped them down a bit.
I was looking not at the head thumbprint with the "A" in it, but the other one. Now I see the heads are probably nearly untouched. Thanks for pointing that out Rod. Someone did a lot of work inside them though.
Maybe I'd keep the roller rockers to use on my 427 build; maybe not. Not sure if I even want a roller cam in my stroker.
Anyone know if the "D" scratch is significand? Probably nothing important, but would like to know what it might indicate.
