Here are some photo's of my 1966 Ford 427 Shelby Cobra. I actually bought the engine first, them the kit.(long story but if you're interested, I can post it) Carroll Shelby sold this motor to a customer in 67'. He ended up wrapping the car around a gas pole and Carroll bought back what part's were left.
I kept in stock for three years but, ended up breaking the rocker shaft on #1 cylinder. I rebuilt the motor, keeping all the internal La Mans parts. I had Comp Cams custom grind me a cam. It sounds awesome. There's nothing like the sound of a FE.
I'm a auto body man and custom mixed the blue with a lot of mica and added pearl to the white stripes.
Years ago, I built a Pro-Street Camaro, 468 Rat, Muncie, narrowed 9" ect,...It was fast but, the Cobra is just a kick in the pants fun car.
Thanks,
Kevin

Back in 66 (I was 16) my dad & neighbor worked at JD Ball Ford in Miami Fl, they were the only authorized Shelby dealer south of Daytona. They put the velvet roped stands around the Cobra's & GT-40's on the showroom floor because people tried to test the suspension with the palms of their habds and leave dents in the aluminum body. If anyone tried to lay on one they would probably have shot em.
I guess I'm an old fart but if someone tried to lay on my Galaxie today I think I would shoot em.
Nice car, enjoy! (the women too, I ain't that old)). ww
lol, I know what you mean. Even today with the beautiful coach work by the Kirkham brothers, flick your finger on the car and,....dent. (well, a little extreme there but, fairly easy anyway) Still,......would love one!
The girls put on a nice natural, coat of wax. Can't remember what type? It's not sold in stores though.
Gettin' I'm gettin' old too I guess.
"see "Quote" Post on main page" I clicked on your URL and did not see it, is that where you mean ?
By the way, nice oil filter location, easy to get to ! lol
It's a "Lone Star Classics" out of Texas. It's stretched 4" in the cockpit to make a 94" wheel basr. Very solid car. It has it's problems but, they all have. Nice ERA, I've always liked them. !
What engine do you have in it ?
May I lift a few of these pix to post on our website? Please visit it and let me know. I need a few more cars (and women) on our Cobra page. Please email me @ spookytruck@yahoo.com. Send me a short write-up about your car. I'd love to have it on there.
