A heckuva lot of work involved in transfering over the glass and mechanisms from the old doors to the new doors and then installing and aligning. But a good couple of nights. Glad to be passed the hard part on the doors.

I am sure you adjusted the doors when the car was off the hoist, right?

Yep final adjustment will...

July 23 2008, 8:12 AM

take place once the car is on the ground. It won't change the window/vent to rubber angle much, but may change the doors a little. I'll loosen the hinge bolts off slightly then put it down.

I added subframe connectors and and extra torque box to the car, so the chassis is pretty stiff. but ya never know

Put her down for final door and body panel alignment. Actually drives pretty nice, even with manual steering.

Felt like taking it around the block

Beautiful work. One question, have you leaned on the radiator support to......

July 24 2008, 5:16 AM

......simulate the weight of the nose pieces? Pan clearance seems really close at this stage, Rod.

Pan is sitting over a speed bump

July 24 2008, 8:48 AM

in this pic. This was kind of a fun pic for me. The car sits so low I was wondering if it would make it out of the garage without scraping the exhaust on the raise asphalt section.
On the flat, the oil pan is about 4" from the ground.

Your Car Is Beautiful Even In It's Unfinished State

July 24 2008, 1:17 PM

Most people who see it will never be able to appreciate the dedication it takes to build a car like that. Especially when its one or two people in a small shop and not some megabuck facility.

But I'm curious, are you building this for yourself or to sell? I only ask this because I personally could never part with something so beautiful that took so much time, love and care to build.

My hat's off to you for your dedication and obvious skill. It will be a teat to see when completed. Best of luck. ww

Building to keep

July 24 2008, 2:32 PM

and I think it will be something to pass on to one of my boys (I have two) (maybe that means I have to build another car)

I am actually planning to make it a show and go street car. A car that kids can get in and touch.

My brother's son has Muscular Dystrophy, so one of my main goals is to raise awareness about MD and money for the childrens hospital

That's Cool

July 24 2008, 2:52 PM

I'm glad to hear you say that. I built my 65 Galaxie back in 1999 with the help of my two sons who were 23 & 25 at the time. Every year the three of us take it to Daytona for the Thanksgiving Turkey Run weekend. It has helped keep us close and is considered part of the family.

I know you'll enjoy it with your family and good luck on your fund raising efforts. ww
