My dad has had this car for 38 years and still hasn't finished it. It's a crazy tale that began when he was 16. Bought the car in Wisconsin for $250. It was originally from Colorado, ended up being a stolen vehicle. Talked to dmv/police, called the owners. They ended up not caring all that much cuz the car was in bad shape, didn't run good, he was granted a bill of sale/title. Throuout the years, did several partial restos, unfortunately, a couple of divorces, but I think I have him back on track. He's motivated and would like to complete it, hopefully soon. I can't wait to pop the cherry on that thing. Weird story, I know. Thanks for listening.

it has some character. Very nice work on everything. It just reminded me of some old moonshiner's car. Reminded me of "Thunder Road", one of my favorite Mitchum movies.
What did you use for headers on the FE? Also, I`ve often wondered about that chrome dash trim as seen on your Dads 57, for the heater, radio & clock. I once had one of those 1 piece trims with the horiziontal ribs, but most 57`s I`ve seen or owned, had the 3 individual pieces, ie seperate panel each for the heater, clock & radio, which have vertical & much finer ribs. I`ve asked several older 57 owners, and nobody really seemed to know why there were the 2 very different versions of this trim. I have seen both styles used with & without the "Town & Country" radio option as well. Glad to see the car finally nearing completion. A friend of mine has a 57 2 door "Imitation Hardtop" that he has owned since 1967, but has been sitting in his garage since the early 70`s, while he has restored dozens of other 57&58`s, and 69-70 Mustangs. He also still owns the same 70 Mustang fastback that he bought brand new (351C 4 barrel with Shaker, auto, Grabber Green with black interior.) That car has also been sitting for close to 20 years, save for 2 or 3 1day permit drives. The 57 & the Mustang are his "babys", but he`s 62 years old now, and by the time he gets all his other project cars done, I don`t know if he will ever get around to those two.
