Engine and trans ...

July 3 2009, 9:01 AM

The eng. is a +.040 390 mirror block, stock crank and rods with arp bolts, forged pistons, 270H cam, Erson rockers, Ed heads 9.5:1 c.r., r.p.m. intake. Would have liked to have gone with the 4.25 stroker kit, but had to stop the bleeding somewhere. Most of my car budget is going in the mustang. The trans is a TKO-600 with the .68 overdrive, keeping the 4:10 rear gear. Mike

Ahh, that brings back fond memories of my '63 F-150

July 3 2009, 2:10 PM

I liked the arched rear fender flares on the '63. I had a 351W that my dad and I built for me to drive in high school. I think it had a New Process 4-speed with the granny low so I never used 1st gear. Even still, I could beat most challengers until the 3-4 shift, where there is a huge RPM drop. I really like the body style, and what a great running motor that 351W was. There was so much room under the hood, it's begging for an FE though.
