O/T Mini Trans-Am rant (with pics)

Just spent the better part of the last two days at Lime Rock watching the Trans-Am series.
Guess I should have researched a bit before I got my preconceived ideas all set.
You learned gentlemen probably already know this, but it ain't like it used to be!
1) It is like browsing a GM showroom
2) The 1 Mustang running this weekend was pretty far removed from a Mustang, as were all the others, but at least they "looked"
like Camaros and Corvettes

Still some great racing, but I prefer the Vintage Trans-Am series (keeping me firmly in curmudgeon status)

Former GT-1 driver Amy Ruman, now a Corvette driver (I know, I know....but would you rather look at the Camaros???)

And Lime Rock always has interesting spectator cars:

It was a good weekend of racing, took some video but most of it is blurry. ***sigh***

It really sucks at how far gone automotive racing is compared to .....

its roots.

I would love to see Trans Am racing with just gutted factory cars, kinda like the glory days of the 60's.

You know, it just hit me, racing today isn't really for the car guy.

Its more of a popularity contest, the cars going round the track is just a bi-product of this kind of racing.

You Got It! It's Called The Continental Tire Series For One

That's just one of the series. They are stock bodied cars and drive trains. Currently you have Mustangs, Cameros, BMW, Porche to name a few. There are two classes and between them most import and domestic manufacturers are represented. Ford builds a turn key car and Chevy will soon have a Camero.

Check out this stable of horsepower. ww

There was an outfit putting GoPro cameras all over the Trans-Am cars.
I talked with one of the guys and I guess they'll edit it all and post it online.
Here's a quick link I found:

Not sure if they will upload the entire race.
