This has been in Southwards Museum in New Zealand for a number of years. 390 powered. Has a Daimler fluid flywheel hookup for power transfer IIRC.

yikes

Seeing what the alternator fan did to the wiring on my 61 wagon i'd be real careful where my foot was on that thing.

I guess if the kickstand sunk into the asphalt you'd need a tow truck to lift it back up.

I've seen two similar bikes,

July 13 2012, 4:00 PM

Went to look at a '64 Fairlane roller in Globe, AZ many years ago.
Fella had a couple old original cars in front of the place, invited us into the shop.
Had two of those bikes, one was a BBC, one was a SBC, I have some photos somewhere but have no idea where to look for them.
Also had a very, very nice '55 Chev convertible.
There was a complete FE tri-power set-up on a bench as well.
I didn't buy any of it, the '64 was a little beat up (plus it was in AZ and I live in CT and was doing the overseas gig at the time)
The bikes were real, though, if I can find the pics I'll try to see how they were driven.

Not photoshopped

Here's another pic.

I didn't take one of the driveline side, but it has a daimler fluid flywheel (somewhat similar to a torque converter I think) in a steel can on the 'rear' of the engine. Then I think a belt drive back to a bike transmission.

I wonder how the run the transmission, or is it just a 1:1 from the flywheel to the rear?

Very interesting. Lots more fun to see than a shitty chebby.

seen a drag bike with a very hot sbc in it at Woodburn drag strip once, had a clutch and derect drive to the rear wheel, it had about a 10" wide slick on the back, the thing pulled to one side so hard when the guy went down the track he had to lean way out to the side and almost drag his knee on the ground to keep it going straight, it was stupid fast, well over 200 miles an hour hanging off the side of the thing, he musta had some very big cuhunas or was a complete idiot.

Most SBC bikes have engine front to back so the pull

July 17 2012, 10:05 PM

This one is transverse, a better idea from a torque perspective.

The one i was talking about was transverse but it still did pull to the side.
