My favorite suggestions are the following......

TONS of water! Make a water bottle your new best friend.

THINGS to keep your hands busy. Straws, toothpicks, TYPING, rubber bands, pencils, pens, etc...

THINGS to keep your mouth occupied. Straws, I would cut them "to size" and "smoke" them THAT was a quit saver! ...., toothpicks, pencils & pens (not the writing end). gum, mints, hard candy, etc...

LEARN all you can about smoking and quitting. Here is the link to Bob's Place :http://www.roofchek.com/quitsmoking/ There is also a link to this great resource at the top of this board. Bob's Place is full of very useful info. Bob is a resident of Blairsville.

And last but not least.....actually it should be first...... MAKE A COMMITMENT!! Quitting is a long process. It goes far beyond getting through the physical withdrawal. We have to learn how to live our lives again WITHOUT the cigarettes that were always by our side. It is difficult but very do-able. Re-commit yourself to your quit each morning by saying "I will not smoke today"! To think of quitting for the rest of our lives is just too scary. We all quit one day at a time.

So there ya have it..... don't be shy..... jump right in here whenever you feel the need. WRITE before you LIGHT!!
