More seriously, both of these pieces legislation fly in the face of many ideals which America hold precious (or many American, at any rate), one of which is the right to make informed decisions about how to live one's life, with whom, and with what. No one's well considered and responsible choices should be dictated by politicians, no less movie "stars," many, if not most, of whom are One Trick Ponies. Of course, we need laws in this country -- it's good to be able to assume that red lights mean STOP, or we'd have grid lock, but these laws are not among the ones necessary for a relatively orderly society. |
