I don't do much sewing anymore, mostly knitting so I am not sure of the answer. Hopefully others will chime in shortly. In the past when I have found fabric I love but not had a specific project in mind I just buy a 2 yard piece. This certainly has been enough for multiple baby things but is a small enough cut that I can manage it. I don't have much space to lay things out and cut them so I needed to be thinking of that.
