Memory Bracelets

Can someone who has made these memory bracelets tell me the size of the crimping bead to use. I recently bought some to use with the elastic and after crimping it I stretched the elastic and it fell apart. Help, what did I do wrong, I certainly don't want these to fall apart. I thought that I crimped it enough, perhaps the bead was too small??? Any Help greatly appreciated
