Knitting for preemies

by

A few years ago, after I retired, I made a bunch of booties and caps, etc. and took them to some lady in the office that the hospital switchboard girl told me to talk to. She in turn had to call the Administrator. (I wanted to put my church's name on it instead of mine.) He said no - that if he let me do it, he would have to let all the churches do it. I thought 'Well Duh!'. I brought that batch back home and put it in my Goodwill box. A few years later, a lady from our church went to the Nurse in Charge of the OB department and asked her if we could furnish some items to give to the new babies or for them to use as they saw fit. She was thrilled. We have been making baby quilts, blankets, booties, caps, & onesies for our hospital for about a year now. During the month of December we furnished Christmas Stockings for the nurses to put the babies in to present them to the parents. This went over really well. Good Luck.
