I just want to say thank you to each of you that volunteers for NIN. I appreciate all you do for the babies and their families. Many years ago our family was touched by the kindness of strangers, when our daughter was born 3 months early. A few days after she was born, we found tiny booties and a handmade cap in her hospital bed. And at Christmas, a special red & green cap and a stocking. These things helped get us through a sad and scary time.
So we were especially happy this year when our family got to help the Springfield chapter stuff Christmas stockings for others. My husband and I, our now fourteen-year old "preemie" daugther and our 10 year-old son (also a preemie), had a great time.
As always, I was amazed at the beautiful garments and quilts, the amount of hard work required, and the dedication of the volunteers.
I have just found out a friend who is expecting, but isn't due until April, is already on strict bed rest. It reminded again how frightening and sad it can be, not knowing if your baby will make it. On behalf of all those parents and babies, I would like to say thank you for your love and support, and Happy New Year to you all.
