I just got back from visiting my granddaughter in Shriner's Hospital in St Louis. Until Embry Claire needed help, I didn't know much about Shriner's but I have a very healthy respect for what they do and how much they help the babies.
There is no charge to their patients for the medical care given and the doctors and nurses are so wonderful to the babies and children.
I took a large donation from Newborns in Need to Shriner's Hospital of baby quilts, slippers, toys, books and other needed items and was shown their storage room. Each child is given a new toy to help them stay occupied and happy while they are in hospital being treated. Because of sanitation reasons, the toys must all be new in their packaging. Each little bed has a beautiful hand done baby blanket on it - we just donated 20 more
NIN Houston, MO is right in the middle of our Baby's First Christmas project, and you can bet that Shriners will be the recipient of some of the stockings.
Please send either donations of actual items, or cash donations to ninlittledarlins@gmail.com through paypal so we can go shopping for you to purchase what is needed. Donations can be sent to Newborns in Need, PO Box 385, Houston, MO 65483. We will mail you a thank you letter with your tax deductible receipt.
Here is a picture of Embry Claire - she is 18 months old. Embry Claire has a hip that is not in it's socket and falls when she walks and has a bad limp as one leg is shorter than the other from a doctor dislocating her hip when she was a wee baby. Thank goodness for Shriners - they tell us she will be fine after her traction and surgery, then full body cast and treatment for a year.
