Re: Message From President Connie Edwards - Please Read

Respectfully, I have to disagree that the Yahoo Group message board is the more public of the 2 NIN message boards.
I view the message board attached to the NIN website as our more "public" face in that it is the one that gives people an idea of who we all are and the "personality" of the group when they visit our website. You cannot access any of the messages on the Yahoo group until you join. True, people may have found the Yahoo group by doing an internet search…that is quite probably also how they found the NIN website and subsequently the affiliated message board. Asking them to join yet again one more group to get information seems to me to be a hurdle we are putting in the path of potential new volunteers.
The purpose of having 2 message boards was to have a variety of ways for people to participate. Just as some like the option of getting Yahoo messages delivered in different ways (individual messages, daily digests, or reading at the Yahoo site), others prefer a message board like the one on the NIN website where each thread is neatly laid out.
The NIN message board is a snapshot of the history and evolution of the organization and it contains message threads back to July 2001. I don't know about others but I do use the Search function on that message board to find old patterns and other reference postings. It would be unfortunate to lose such a rich archive.
If the decision is ultimately made to shut down the NIN website message board please give those of us who use it ample notification so that we can retrieve any patterns and info that will no longer be available to us.
