but Aladin Sane may have a valid point as well. If we look at all the scratched and surf damaged crystals that show up on Ramon's auctions, we might expect to see a severely scrathced and even cloudy crystal. While there are some soft scratches across it, the preponderance of pits look to be hits from impact or perhaps welding sparks. I don't know what temperature mineral glass melts at or would have thermal pits chafed from it but I guess those spots of molten welding rod or metal get quite hot.
