G/day my name is Seiko Goldfeather, dad just calls me Goldfeather.
My dad purchased me from a shop in Penang when he was in the Navy,it was love at first sight,i was there in my little box looking up at him and he bent down and had a big long look at me, i heard him talking about the price of me, didnt look good for awhile as i heard Dad say, last chance mate, then the next thing i know my box is being closed and i knew i had a new owner i was that excited.
Dad took me back to the Aircraft carrier, removed me gently out of the box wound me up and set the time then he went about showing me off to all his Pilot mates in the mess gee i felt good.
Next day Dad put me on his wrist, he was steppin ashore, he was proud and so was i, we went into the hotels and Dad was drinking a lot of beer, some split on me but i didn't mind i was water proof, later on Dad went to the toilet there were other Sailors in there squatting on the floor playing a game called Crown and Anchor Dad joined in and started putting his money on,soon though Dad was running out of money,he reached over and took me off his wrist, i was scared i did not know what was going on, then the next thing i knew some other sailor picked me up and put me in his pocket.
I was taken to a ship, not Dad's ship the man that had me just shoved me in a cold locker,i was there for a long time oh i longed for my nice warm box and to be with Dad again.
One day after being in this locker for weeks, rolling from one side of it to the other the man took me out and put me on his wrist i knew he was going ashore in some
strange port,we went to many bars and other places until in the evening we ended up in a toilet again there were men there again playing that game, i was scared as i remembered what happened last time,i looked around and in an instant my tick quickened, there was Dad he was just looking on but all of a sudden he sat down and took some money from his pocket, soon he was winning and the man that had me was losing then i heard dad say i will buy that back off you, he was talking about me,i knew was going to be back with Dad real soon, however Dad just put me on the Crown and Anchor mat and kept playing, just then there were people running everywhere they were calling out Shore Patrol, Shore Patrol, next thing i know some big guy picked me up off the mat and threw me into the bag with all the money in it, he was an MP and i heard him say "confiscated".
The next thing i knew was me being taken out of the bag on board ship, the money was stacked along side me, then i saw the Captain and Dad, the Captain was angry with Dad but then he handed me back to Dad and i heard the Master At Arms say Dismissed.
Dad took me straight back to his room, gave me a polish and put me back in my Box.
I stayed in the box untill Dad got back to Sydney, when he got home he took me out and introduced me to Mum she was impressed, strange he never mentioned to her what had happened to me.
From then on i had a great life still resting in my box, taken out on special occasions when Dad wanted to impress someone, that was the routine for years, until in 1989 when Dad lived in Kalgoorlie,it was a hot night and Mum and Dad decided to take the children into town for a visit to the ice cream shop and a stroll in the park,i was left at home
Suddenly i heard a smashing of glass,a lot of noise and stuff being thrown around, then to my horror someone tore at my box ripping it open, then they had me in their hand along with mums jewelery,i was being stolen,i heard the door open and the person that had me was running down the path then all of a sudden i felt myself falling, ouch i had fallen into a Rose bush, there i was hanging on a thorny branch of one of Dads rose bushes.
I don't know how long i was there, i had stopped long ago,i do rememger the garden sprinkler coming on and giving me a good soaking more than once.
One day just hanging there i could see Dad he had a spade in his hand,he was digging all around the bushes but he didn't see me, them Mum came out and she spotted me straight away, she said my gold hit her in the eye.
Dad was just about crying he took me inside washed me down and gave me a great big kiss and another polish.
Dad went and got a safe the next day, he had to make a new box as the thief destroyed my original one.
everything was back to normal for me, had my usual amount of showings.
In 1990 Mum and Dad moved to Perth, and it was great Dad would wear me up the pub, he always had his shirt sleeves rolled up, everyone wanted to know where Dad got me.
In 2005 Dad came and got me out of the safe, put me on, he was going to the footy and i heard him tell mum he was giving the Goldfeather a run, Dad took the car to the railway stn, then he would park up and take the train straight to the football.
When Dad got out of the car something happened and once again i had that helpless feeling of falling,i was and this time i landed on the ground,i thought Dad would pick me up but he didn't he just kept walking,he left me there i couldn't believe it.
I must have laid there for 2 hours or more with a broken band then someone picked me up and put me in their pocket, i was in that pocket for six weeks and it was a bit longer than that before i saw Dad again, i think it;s best Dad finishes this story as he knows what happened from the time that person picked me up until we wre reunited again.

Dad; Well that quite a story, every word of it true, the old chap that found my Goldfeather fell quite ill just after he arrived home he spent the next 4 weeks in hospital, then 2 weeks recuperating at his daughters place, finally he returned home, first thing he wanted to do was to read a special section in his local newspaper, the first paper he picked up featured me and a photo of the Goldfeather on the front page with the heading NAVY MAN wants his watch back,i received a call from this chap who only lived a short distance from me saying he had my watch, i couldn't get there fast enough, i was reunited with my belovered Goldfeather again, the old chap would not take a reward of any kind and just refused to speak of it.
A call to the Electricity supply company,The Gas Company, the Water supply company with my credit card number soon sorted the stubbon old bugger out.
Hoped you like our story, please excuse spelling mistakes etc. Regards George
PS: I should add that Crown and Anchor was played in the toilets to avoid being spotted by the shore patrol, Hmmm does not always work.
