It was in late 2005 when I first laid eyes on a watch, the like of that I'd never seen before nor replicated by any other watch.
It was the Seiko 6159-7001 Hi Beat Professional Divers watch. I loved the look of it immediately and its very bold appearence. Design without compromise and the marriage of function over form won me over instantly.
Searching for long periods of time and on a very small budget my search turned up nothing. I gave up till early 2006 when I started getting more and more into watches and realised that Seiko had released a historic line of watches marking the acheivements of their predecessors. The 600m and 300m divers. So after some negotiation I bought my very first SBDX001 aka MM300. Wow, I thought what a piece. But soon paranoia set in after reading some crown problems, I sold the watch within 2 weeks of ownership at a hefty loss.
After going through Breitlings, Rolex, Omega, Sinn and a myriad of many other Seiko divers my urge for the MM300 never really subsided. Needless to say I had spent a rather large sum of money in attempt to relieve the pull of the MM300.
Come 2009 and my hunt started again after I had catch and release moment with the Omega 2254. Nice watch, but at this stage my lust for the MM300 was at fever pitch. Deal done last week and she is here. To Stay. My MM300. Hope you didnt get bored with the write up.
