What are the main difference between the SKX007J, SKX007K, and the SKX173? I see that the SKX007K is the cheapest...why? I am kind of wavering between the SKX007J and the US model SKX173. Any suggestions and why?

See link to pictures of all: http://www.makedostudio.com/watches/seiko-divers/7S26.html

SKX007J...made in Japan

SKX007K...made in Singapore

These are identical watches with round hour markers and the needle point second hand with the round ball at the back end of the second hand. There has been much written here (check the archives) about any differences between these two models.

SKX173...made in Singapore

This is a USA market watch with square hour markers and the round ball at the very front of the second hand. Other than that, identical to the SKX007J/K

For all practical purposes these three are all identical in quality...pick the one with your cosmetic preference if the price is right.

SKX007J has the "Made in Japan" stated on the dial, someone stated SKX007K is a made in singapore model, SKX173 is the same as SKX007J except the dial color. Some sources did said that SKX007J and SKX007K are the same except it is targeting at different markets. Did i confuse you???? On conclusion, all three are great Seiko watches.

SKX007J is the so-called "Japan version" (supposedly made in Japan).

SKX007K is the "Singapore version" (supposedly made in Singapore).

SKX173 is a N. American model marketed only in, well, N. America, while the SKX007's are Asian models.

There have been some debates about whether the SKX007J is actually made in Japan and whether the SKX007K is actually made in Singapore, etc. -- the bottom line is they are models labelled differently for marketing purposes.

All the Seiko divers are very well-made and at less than $160 USD or so are a great value. It all depends on which style you like. They're all great divers.

Check the Seiko Divers Reference for more details:

Have fun with your Seikos!
