Hi
Thought you might be interested to see these photos
My Uncle lives in Perth Western Australia and is involved with the Mining Industry there.
These photos were sent to him of one of the Iron Ore Carriers.

Its amazing what these ships can withstand out in the ocean.
Hope you find interesting
Update :::: My Uncle has just informed me that these photos aren't from Cyclone George : ( but in a North Atlantic Storm, February 1987
Sorry for miss informing all

The supestructure on those ships is well over 100 feet above sea level...how high are those waves???

The last wave would make a perfect background for an SCWF watch dial

Some of those minerals could become Asian watches!

Thanks, those are incredible. A nice glimpse of a different world than mine.

footage, check out "Around Cape Horn"...a 30 minute movie shot in the 1920's by Irving Johnson who served on the 4 masted ship. He narrated it when he was 80. Absolutely amazing.

He shot while aloft in the rigging when he was a young man serving aboard that same ship. It brings to mind the saying they had "One hand for your ship, one hand for yourself". In that case; how the h*ll did he do that and manage his movie camera at the same time? Astonishing film.

I shudder to think if I were on a small fishing boat in the middle of that ugly, angry sea! Never mind if I wore the 1,000m Darth Tuna or a Seiko 5!

Thank you for the wonderful photos. Amazing how the sea swells can easily swallow that ore carrier!

cheers,

StratMan
