Hello,

I tended to prefer quartz watches and only had a couple of automatics.
But recently I have fell under the spell of the classic auto divers and have been fortunate to pick up several.... but thats another story happy.gif

Now my problem is looking at my collection and seeing all the autos stare back at me with no apparent life. And since I am not an octopus and only have two arms, I cannot keep all the autos active and running.

Considering getting an auto winders and would really appreciate opinions on the following:

-- are they good to use for the watch?
-- what are experiences with them from those that use them?
-- any recommendations of ones to consider or to stay away from?
-- anything that I am missing?, an/or any other comments are welcome

Thanks to all for turning me on to the joy of the auto divers and for any thoughts and opinions shared.

Regards,
Daniel

felt that I needed a winder' personally don't see the reason to have one especially as you say you now have a number of watches, how many watches can be used on a winder at one time?

I have watches that have been in boxes for an age but if they have been serviced in the past a gentle shake and up they run don't have a need to keep 30+ watches running.

Now if I only had a couple of high end watches it would probably make sense to own one, while wearing one for a few day at a time and then rotating, only my opinion I am sure others use and love them.

Is this my Signature?

As I posted elsewhere recently, when I only had a couple of automatics, I thought I needed a winder. Now that I have a few more, I have come to the conclusion that I can get by without the clutter and expense of having several winders. Every two winders will cost the equivalent of a watch or so. I'd rather have another watch.

There is really no logic..........

..............in keeping umpteen automatic watches all ticking away, wearing out their parts (however sub-atomic that wear might be) just so that, when you choose one, the day and date are synchronised.

Far better to keep them quiet and peaceful and restore them to life as you choose to wear them.
It doesn't take much to re-set the day/date on most auto watches.

Just my tuppence worth. happy.gif

I keep two watches on my winder just in case I'm in a hurry and don't have time to set the date and time. I have a white knight that I only wear on the weekends that stays on the winder.

Unless you have a very complicated watch that's a real pain to set like moonphases or perpetuals I see no need for a winder. If you rotate watches and wind them only when you wear them you you can extend the time between service a very long time. If you keep them running all the time you probably looking at 5 years or so.

I don't buy the I'm so busy excuse. How long does it take to set the time and date and give it a few winds a minute or less?

A new Wolf winder , can be $300.00 I am very Pleased to have Paid $70.00 each, they, came w/o the plug in, part so I use battrys, last 6 months, under constant use.
Because Rick Rseiko, is such a Fan of SHARPER LMAGE Winders, I also Bought one, also SCTF new
in Box I see why Rseko is such a Fan, enexpensive, and reliable, and Quiet.
But I Chose the Wolf First 4X the Cost, ???/ but I just love the Quality.

I use, my winders, all, because, W/O really knowing why, My watches, run more Accuretly, when
they are at Fuller wind?? Rather than a few Shakes, and On, and Gone.
I am the last person, to talk, with Knowledge, of Mvts, just , The Forumers, that I learned
from, Used Winders,
But , When I have a Vintage Seiko, that WINDS, IMHO as all watches Should, I am very Happy,
Wis. Starting with 5606--5106s to Sumos to Conversion 6105s The DREAM of 6105s and 6309s that Wind????? as Noahs New Watch, will do, Wind and Hack Even with all
I just said, I still, see a Value, be it only in my MIND, to Have a WINDER for my SEIKO AUTOS.

I am Wishing, to find, a Two or Three watch WOLF used Winder, that came from a GOOD HOME
Good Luck, any way you chose to go Russell I SeikoZen

I only use one for my Bellmatic as that has day & date and to get the day back to current I have to wind the time forward which is a long process if your a few days behind, so I keep it on the winder when not in use. My other automatics either don't have day date or have quickset, so I don't bother.

Came with Magico, in fact, it was the only reason to get Magico for me.
Works well.

I'm waiting for another Magico or Swiss Legend deal, so that I could get a 2nd SWI winder
