How to make DEEP! snow?

Dear friends,

I wanted to put my KT and a grenadier in a deep snowfield that would be about 30-50cm (12-20inches) deep in reality. I have nice, shiny snow powder that's made for railways, but it's not possible to make such a thik layer with it. Also does the surface look to much like powder (it should more have a smooth finish in that scale, no?)

Can anyone help me or knows an alternativ?

Thanks a lot, I'll show you the pictures when it's finish, I promess
