How to use Heki grass?

After seeing a few excellent dioramas in 1/72 that used Heki grass, I decided to give it a try. [See Steve Zaloga's Barbarossa dio here: http://www.missing-lynx.com/gallery/small/barb172_szaloga.html ] I got the package this week but now I am stuck. I search Yahoo and this DG on tips for applying the grass mat. Basically the only thing I could find was to rip off pieces the appropriate size and glue them to the base. Is that it? There's no trick or other technique?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Jeff
