Grenade versus MP40??

My two cents...as an old Infantry Marine...

Grenades do not announce the presence of the thrower...a grenade can come from any direction...the surrounding situation - and the chaos of battle - could dictate that he would choose NOT to expose himself from behind the wall section.

In all of our training, we were taught to use a grenade whenever we didn't want to expose our position. Holding a ten-second fuzed grenade for 5-6 seconds (a VERY common practice) would drop the grenade at the feet of the enemy as it was in the air or just as it hits the ground.

An old infantry maxim goes "tracers work both ways" and so does a stream of fire from a machine pistol.

HTH - and again, it's your choice, but I personally LIKE the drama / anticipation of the grenade being thrown...
