Response to my plaster problems

the plaster I use is especially intended for casting and is very hard. You can find it in craft stores in bags of 1 or 5 kg and is often used for casting dollfaces or ornaments. It is way more expensive than normal plaster but worth every penny because it is much harder. A wall that falls over on the table won't even braken and you can apply a lot of force on it while cutting and carving. It also dries very quickly. It is harder to work with (needs more force) but can render finer detail. Since, because of its strength, it is not easy to cut large pieces at once, the easiest way is to cast the main shape in a crude plasticcard mold you can make yourself very easily. The finer details can be carved or added afterwards. For this, see the tread "scratching buildings" above.

This material should solve all the breakage problems you have, so try it out!
Good luck

marijn
