I have absolutely no idea how to display my Swiss G-13.
It is a mid serie (quite different from late hetzers) painted black, approx in the 60's.
Any comment, advice, tip or even IDEA would be welcome!
The G-13 can be seen the bottom of http://monsite.wanadoo.fr/fgarnier76_military/page1.html
Please help!!!!

Swiss Hetzer Idea

January 21 2004, 6:17 PM

I think the obvious choice would be to show it during it's working life, on exercise. By way of contrasting anachronisms I think it would look good beside some mounted and dismounted Dragoons.
This unit is illustrated in the old Blandford book on armies since 1945. They were disbanded in 1973. you would then have say, a 1940's vehicle in the 1960's, with some outmoded but impressive horse soldiers, wearing the Swiss version of the German coal scuttle helmet.
Add some civilian onlookers in 60's gear & you would have one unusual diorama.

Need some explainations

January 26 2004, 8:44 AM

What do you mean by "mounted and dismounted Dragoons."?
I don't understand that sentence.
Do you have any pics of what you're talking about cause I've never heard about that book.
The idea of the anachronism is quite interesting!

Some Explanations

January 26 2004, 6:16 PM

Hello Frédéric
When I mentioned mounted and dismounted dragoons I just meant 1 or 2 on horseback & 1 holding his horse,
or leading it on foot. All the Dragoons were cavalrymen
but one could be standing or walking dismounted,(as long as there is one horse in the picture the idea is
not lost).
No picture I'm afraid but the book I am thinking of
is by Digby Smith & illustrated by Mike Chappell. It was published by Blandford in the U.K. in the early 80's & entitled "Army Uniforms since 1945". I used to see this at second-hand bookshops. It would probably be available from your local library via inter-library loan.
Personally I think a better move would be an enquiry to your friendly Swiss embassy (assuming here that you are not in Switzerland), as embassies are usually helpful once you let them know what you want the info
for. It shouldn't be too top secret a subject as the unit was disbanded decades ago. This might also help
in clarifying the details on items like the Swiss "coalscuttle" helmet.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll try to find this book.
I thought about a 60's or 70's car, but seems quite difficult to find in 1/35.

fiel damage

February 5 2004, 5:05 AM

Hi
I would show the G-13 during an exercise. Perhaps on a pasture with a farmer talking angrily to a officer and pointing to nasty track marks on his field.Just some trivial damage done by the passing G-13, could also be a kaputt fence or mailbox with the civilian owner complaining to the soldiers. A few kids or pedestrians observing the confrontation would be nice too.

An other idea, if you like dirt and mud on your models,
is to have the crew clean a very dirty G-13 at the home base.

hope that helps

cu Stefan
