Help needed - Palm Tree query

Please advise if the Verlinden Palm tree can only be used in the desert, or would it grow or look like those on the Pacific Islands ?

I'm making a 3 tone camo LVT (A)4 with the old Italeri Marines and a modified stretcher Jeep, and need to set it in the right context.

What sand colour also, please ? Could be volcanic black for effect or white sand !

Cheers
Andrew

Trees

Well Verlinden uses their same tree in both settings. IIRC it is a Date Palm, and more appropriate for Europe, compared to a Cocoanut palm...

Sand type will vary from island to island. Some Pacific Islands (like Tarawa) had little beach, and some had black volcanic sand like Iwo Jima.
