Hi guys, for my first post here, I wanted to show some water effects, a kid and some wreck. Everything is scratchbuilt except a few Royal model bolts
thanks for viewing!

Amazing water - how was it done?

June 24 2007, 4:37 PM

The best water I have ever seen. Can you tell us how it was done? Thanks, Dmitry

well, the water..

June 26 2007, 12:21 AM

was done with a mold actually,
-first I sculpted a sea with plaster and miliput kind of mastic tip of waves
-then I did a silicon mold (expensive stuff, but the diorama is very small actually)
-I poured some polyester resin -the smelly kind, 3 coats trying to blend them one in another. From the whiter colour to the bluer.
-When unmolded, I mixed a bit of white with some transparent acrylic gel (the kind you find in art shops) and drew the foam
-then another slightly blue tinted resin coat, applied with a brush,
-then the tip of the waves with white tinted acrylic gel.

it's not that difficult, but it is time consuming

Thanks a million for your comments guys
JB

Wonderful

June 26 2007, 4:17 AM

Hello Andre

Congrautulation on a beautiful done diorama. I think this is one of the best dioramas I have ever seen involving water (well, Rhodes diving dio a couple of weeks ago was a beauty too)
Like all your work the story and theme is very original

Thanks for sharing your water tecniques, sounds very tempting to give it a try in the future!

All the best

Per Olav

I just love it....

This one is very pleasing and relaxing.....

I can almost hear the rushing of the waves, the cries of seagulls, feel the wind and sun on my skin and smell the sea..

(Ron gently floats away on a cloud of tranquility.....)

and let me drift away..

June 27 2007, 12:41 AM

that's it Ron, i am absolutely happy it leads you on tranquility path
with age coming I begin to see less beauty in panzers and more in what you can actually do if you want to search a bit when it comes to diorama ideas.
Per Olav, I will be watching this space for water effects from your considerably talented hands

The water work looks to be your best yet......especially the water breaking up into spidery patterns near the sand - beautiful.

June 28 2007, 9:11 AM

It's a very impressive work you make !
The water is very realist and glossy.
I take a look on your web site (I invite all to go on it) and I saw more fantastic diorama's.

Superbe et vraiment original, bravo !
