I'm amazed at how regressive the political "progressive" movement is.

I think they pine for a Jetson's-like era right now, forcing it when the technology isn't up to snuff yet. They wring their hands in glee as fuel prices escalate daily, hoping that will spur the masses to drive fuel miserly vehicles, commute via mass transportation, and accelerate alternate energy solutions, as if that wasn't happening on a grand scale right now, anyway.
The "progressive" movement is now fighting, as they always have, America's drilling for our own oil source to act as a counterweight to the importing of foreign oil. Their retort is that even if we drill now, the oil won't be available for ten years. Maybe so, but if we can agree that it is the future's speculation in the oil market that is driving up the price per barrel of oil, then we can also agree that just by passing the legislation to acquire our own oil will certainly paint a rosier picture for the future oil supply market & allow speculators to loosen their death grip on the market.
Now the "progressive" movement has mandated that we all use a mercury filled light bulb, made exclusively in China, that comes with an EPA warning on the label, by 2012. What will future generations do when landfills become so tainted with the mercury from these bulbs that it seeps into the water table killing our children's children before global warming has a chance to char them mercilessly? Progressive thinking, indeed.
The "Progressives" are seriously pro-regressive thinking only as far as the tip of their pointy noses.
Pro-regressives, the new label for liberal.
Ted Poe Congressman from Texas on the new lightbulbs pro-regressives have made us use by law.:
