I also like a short first stage, the adjustment method is a little crude, but effective. if you remove the action from the stock and then tap out the two pins holding the trigger group, yyou will see the first stage is set by a metal tab at the front of the trigger. to adjust, I rest the tab on the corner of a work bench and then use a rubber mallet to hit the back of the trigger group. This will bend the tab toward the trigger and lessen the first stage. You could tap the tab and install an adjustment screw, but if you are like me and don't own a tap, bending works well (I have done it on 4 triggers and all work well).
