I got some advice a few years ago from a visiting airgunner, and have since then mounted my Oehler 35P pick-ups, inverted, at the target end of my range. I have the read-out mounted at the shooting position. Yes, I do have to account for the mitigation of velocities due to the yardage difference between muzzle and target, but that's not hard to do. I like not having to worry about debris on the pick-ups (they are well shielded BTW), and find not having the chronograph at the shooting position a positive.
