Response to Forgeings?

Firearms forgings? Almost everything in the firearms field was forged. Take a Mauser 98, and all its derivatives, the receiver, the bolt, the trigger guard magazine housing were all machined from forgings. The frames of S&W, Colt, Luger, Mauser, Browning, Beretta and other pistol frames are forged and then machined. M1 Carbine and M1 rifles are forged. M16 upper & lowers are forged of aluminum, if they are to be of military spec. Small component parts like Winchester hammers & levers, for the model 94, were machined forgings.
The list of forgings would take more time than I have to type & you have to read.

I make my airguns out of bar stock and drawn tubing. I don't use "billet" steel because it doesn't come in small sizes and being a semi-finished product the surface finish is too rough. It would have the same surface as an "I" beam or a piece of angle iron.
