Boolean searching on this forum a tip for those who might not know.

One person emailed me yesterday asking for help in searching the forum's huge database. It is sometimes difficult to find what you are looking for due to the vast amount of information.

If you want to search for a post that contains lets say 2 or 3 or 4 words

If you put on the line the words:

Russ tune R10 (DONT DO THIS) otherwise...

you will get ALL POSTS that contain Russ, ALL posts that contain tune and ALL posts that contain R10. in other words FORGET it, don't do that.

What you want to do is this:

+russ +tune +R10 (the + on the first word is very important too)

Now you will only get those posts that contain ALL 3 words. A much better search. Words with only 2 letters in them like R7 don't work, you need at least 3.

If you want to search for a sentence where all the words are in that exact same order you need quotes around it like

"steroid numbers"

If you want to search for all posts that contain Steve in NC but not Yrrah

+"Steve in NC" -Yrrah

will give you all posts that have Steve in it but not Yrrah

+"Steve in NC" +Yrrah gives all posts with Steve and Yrrah

REMEMBER 2 LETTER WORDS DO NOT WORK, 3 or more do.
