Response to What is a first good airgun for a child

By power plant I mean; spring, pnumatic (single or multi-stroke), co2, CA/PCP.
These are the same options for and adult rifle, with two consideration.

1 - Do you want the child to be able to shoot the rifle him/herself?
2 - Then which power plant will or will not allow them to shoot themselves.

Spring - can be too hard to charge until they develop the strength. And could be dangerous if the barrel slips out of their hand. There are several low power spring rifles that are fairly easy to cock.

Pnumatic
- for the multistroke, the first few will be fairly easy, but it gets harder the more pumps, and the last few will be HARD.
- for single stroke, you only have one push of the lever, and that could be hardish.
- and keep the fingers clear, or they could smash their fingers under the lever

- co2 easy to cock, and easy to find 12gram co2 cartridges.

- CA/PCP easy to cock, but refill of the air has to be done by an adult.
