The VARMINT HUNTER Magazine. Good Stuff! My passion is varmint hunting with airguns. I've also been varmint hunting with powder burners for over 45 years. One of my favorite magazines is "The Varmint Hunter Magazine". It comes out quarterly and I received the latest edition in yesterdays mail.

I have an ad for my DVD "Airgun Hunting the California Ground Squirrel" breaking in this issue, so I was looking for the ad when I came across an article by Jock Elliot titled, "The Silent Option" with pictures of the FX Whisper, BSA SuperTEN Bull Barrel, and a Daystate Air Wolf. I'm thinking, "ALL RIGHT! AN AIRGUN ARTICLE IN A POWDER BURNER ORIENTED MAGAZINE, COOL STUFF".

It's a short story about dealing with garden raiding ground hogs. In the story Jock gives really good coverage to three excellent air rifles. I love to see the word getting out beyond the known airgunning community. My experience has been, if you can get guys in the powder burner community to try a good quality modern adult airgun, they will be hooked, and that's a good thing.

I'm on a mission here. I'm going to be doing Gun Shows where I'll have two eight foot tables. One for getting rid of a 50 year collection of shooting sports paraphernalia, and one with a display of airguns and accessories to TALK about. I'm hoping to get guys to stop and pick up the guns and maybe ask some questions about them and airgunning in general. I'll also have a 5 minute trailer of my varmint hunting video running, and a copy of the magazine open to Jock's article for guys to eyeball.

It's interesting, when I was first talking to the folks at VHM about advertising with them, I asked why there weren't more airgun based articles, and they said they were working on it. Well they sure were.

Before someone asks, yes I'm retired. I'm really excited about doing this. It's a great way to keep an aging brain active, and a great opportunity to promote airgunning as an addition to the other shooting sports guys are involved in. I hope to see more articles like Jock's in other powder burner publications too. It's all good.
