Looking for Rust Wisdom June 24 2009 at 10:41 PM		(Login mattmaylencooney) YF


Once again, I am looking at a cherry rifle and trying to decide if it is a keeper or not because of a few rust freckles. Tried some fine, fine steel wool and oil, but that didn't do it, and I don't want to mess with the bluing. I have read of people saying that the rust on a rifle was "neutralized" - not sure what that means (other than removed). I think that unless you remove it, it will grow over time, correct? Or does coating it in oil "stop" it. Any advice welcome. Thanks!
