When I started shooting at this target a few weeks ago, I had just the plywood sheet. At 150 yards the pellets would not penetrate all the way thru it.
Then I tried 260 yards and they would imbed only 3/4 of the pellet into the wood.
I started covering the target with paper from a huge roll of unwaxed butcher type paper and just stapeling it over each prior layer instead of tearing the prior sheet off. As the layers built up, the pellets began bouncing off. Right not about 50% bunce off the target.
I had seen a segment of Mythbusters on TV where they confirmed the myth about paper armor, true enough it does work, at least with a 18.1 grain Exact and a plywood backing.
Next week I am going to clad it in sheet metal and paint it so I can see my hits at long range. |
