We are talking about a PCP with electronics controlling an adjustable valve, which will be firing over a window of varied pressures while maintaining consistent velocity.
Pure mechanical is good and simple, but the longevity is not there as things wear in/out. OTOH, something with a built in chrony, and programming to control air usage/firing behavior can maintain consistency indefinitely.
The rest were just thoughts I had on the topic at hand.
It's not uncommon that introducing some form of programmable electronic control into a given industry, after being at least semi-perfected will give results above and beyond what was previously possible with the purely mechanical equivalent, and only gets better with improved electronics and insightful programming.
