How long is long enough for a custom airgun mod?

I wanted to ask you guys what you thought. Trying to decide if I should cancel my order on a custom airgun. I sent close to $900 to one of the oft mentioned airgun modders for a custom .25 rifle back in October. On all our follow-up telephone conversations, I have been considerate and non-demanding when we have spoken. Would it be bad form to tell him one more month and, if not, ask for him send the money back?

He's legit and to be fair we didn't discuss delivery time (my bad) but reading in the forum I got the idea that 3-4 months was normal. Would I be unfair after six months to ask for a delivery date?
